This house is two-story Pueblo-style Santa Fe home, built in 1985 and upgraded along the way. It has synthetic stucco on exterior walls, a 2-year-old foam-and-gravel roof, high-efficiency windows, secure entry from a breezeway between house and attached 2-car garage, and wrap-around patio of loose brick. Located in an established residential neighborhood with mature trees, it is close to walking paths and shopping and a 15-minute drive from the Plaza. Living areas on the first floor have easy-care ceramic-tile floors; bedrooms and loft have carpeting; bathrooms linoleum. The outdoor patio areas were built to offer either sun or shade at any time of day. There is even a patio by the lilac bush, just large enough to gather for cocktails when lilacs are in bloom.

The 18' x 25' open living-dining area with a 20' ceiling has three large tinted south-facing windows and one window high up on the east wall, perfect for watching the moon rise. There is a wood-burning Kiva fireplace and a glass door leading to the north patio. Folding doors separate the kitchen from the living area. The kitchen has original tile countertops and backsplash, original pine cabinets, Maytag dishwasher, 3-year-old Whirlpool refrigerator, 2-year-old GE electric range with a ceramic cooktop, and a stainless-steel double sink with a garbage disposal unit. A Bryant Plus 80 unit provides natural-gas heating and electric refrigerated-air-conditioning. Heating and cooling costs have been exceptionally low for the 12 1/2 years of our residence.

The house has a bedroom and a bathroom on each floor, plus a loft study/office. Closet space is not very generous and has been supplemented with an IKEA closet set in the master bedroom.

The lot is 0.19 acres. Real-estate taxes for 2014 are $1,313.

The most outstanding features of the property are the two-story living room with views of open skies and the loft views over the Jemez Mountains in the west and the Cerrillos Hills and the Ortiz and Sandia Mountains to the south. A close third is the wildlife: an abundance of birds, especially hummingbirds, and occasional yard crossings by jackrabbits and coyotes. We will miss them greatly. And winter holidays in this house and this city are magical. We will remember them always with the help of thousands of photos we have taken inside and outside and around town.
